As I live in Switzerland, I don’t have access to local exotic fruits such as mangoes or pineapples. But because I love these fruits so much I treat myself a few times a year and buy one. Sadly, they do not taste anything like when you’re somewhere where they grow locally. The closest I get to the sweetness level and taste of locally grown fruits is with dried ones. It took me a while to find some, that are not overloaded with sugar and other additives but now I’m really happy with the ones from Fru&Nus, as they taste great! … More Smoothie Ice Cubes three ways
As I named this blog ‚Breakfast Stories‘ originally, I thought, why not actually share one of my favorite breakfasts? I’m a big fan of red smoothie bowls (other colors are great too, but no-one can beat the red one), so I’ve made quite a few of them over the years. My recipe is ever-changing but is sticking with me for over three months now, so I thought it was about time to share it with you. It’s very simple and doesn’t need fancy ingredients but it’s oh-so delicious! It also gives me the feeling of a light spring day which I was looking forward to for at least these three months. … More My Favorite Red Smoothie
As a student I oftentimes don’t have a lot of time to prepare food. Therefore I’m always thankful for my past self if I prepared something in advance. For example homemade granola. It’s so freaking delicious, quite easy to make and stored right, keeps up to three weeks. Perfect for busy mornings (or as a late evening snack). So when I got the opportunity to create a recipe for Fru&Nus I immediately thought granola. They have a big variety of nuts and dried fruits (and they don’t add sugar, flavorings, sulfur dioxide, dyes or acidifiers) which didn’t make it easy to choose. In the end my desire for warmer days won and I chose a coconut and strawberry base and added a few other yummy nuts to the mix. It turned out perfectly chunky and crunchy. Give it a try and let me know how you like it! Happy weekend folks! … More Coconut-Strawberry-Granola
As you probably know by now (if you’ve read some other recipes of mine) I love the simple kitchen. Since it’s easter and that means loots of sweets I thought it was about time to share some of my favorite smoothie recipes with you. Still sweet, but way healthier and quite refreshing. And on top, you can prepare those smoothies within minutes (not bad after all the family gatherings, hmm?).
I wish you a happy easter! … More Four ingredients Smoothies
Simple is the keyword. I love food, that has only few ingredients but is super delicious at the same time. The simpler the better. Less preparation time, less mess and less cleaning up (big yes to the last one!). So everytime I make a smoothie I just throw some fruits and spices in the blender, … More Pink delight
Christmas is one of my favorite times of the year, beside the fact that I don’t like the cold (hence the spices I put into everything). So I created a new smoothie that smells a bit like cinnamon stars but is at the same time a little lighter. And don’t we all need a refresher … More Red Christmas Smoothie
